Warm, inviting, classy, relaxing, and innovative are some of the adjectives that have been used to describe this space in South Surrey.
The goal was to create the ambience of a high-end roof top restaurant-style lounge and patio space while adhering to the very limiting weight restrictions and lack of construction access.
The canvas was 500sq ft of vinyl that had one thing going for it: spectacular city and mountain views. Everything was custom designed for light weight and pre-constructed to be craned into place, as there was little access to the roof. With the homeowners’ busy lifestyle, the space would mainly be used in the evening, placing importance on lighting effects.
A glowing bar creates a central gathering point, with translucent cut outs in the counter surface which illuminates drinks placed over them; ensuring you will never misplace your drink again! Faux concrete back drop walls provide a canvas for Light Art effects by up lighting architectural foliage and projecting against the vibrant blue walls. Translucent backdrop screens provide privacy and showcase unique lighting effects. One step up leads you onto the architectural clear cedar decking, which was hand selected for maximum vertical graining.
A custom designed fire pit cut into the surface of the deck provides warmth and leads your eyes out toward the spectacular views. Contemporary furniture and surrounding plant material complete the space and allow the views to be enjoyed in comfort.
