Michael Bjorge, Principal Landscape Designer and Owner of Pacifica Landscape Works and the Pacifica Design Group from White Rock B.C., is in his element when it comes to creating a landscape design vision and making it a reality!
Nothing excites him more than exceeding his client’s expectations and drawing from his training, experience and what appears to be his innate ability. Michael loves to provide dramatic outdoor living spaces, while ensuring they are functional and sustainable environments. These spaces include surrounding plantings of large trees, designing with local environmental conditions and the incorporation of native species. In other words, Michael strives to enhance what nature has already provided.
Michael’s passion and commitment to landscape design is evident in every project that he completes. His work showcases his unique and iconic style, demonstrating his design adaptability to different locales, typography, themes and architectural styles. Michael draws inspiration from the West Coast whether he is out on the ocean Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or in the mountains where he can be found camping and shooting fine art landscape photography. Michaels Fine Art Photography Prints have been collected worldwide, and he has even developed a process to create weather and UV protected prints for focal points in his Landscape Design projects. Michael’s experience base includes international projects in the Pacific Rim (Mainland China), Panama, and the Pacific Coast. These project range in scope from smaller roof top patio terraces in downtown Vancouver, to private island estates in the Gulf Islands! His design philosophy, innovative style, and client portfolio are the foundation for the multiple landscape, business and service awards of excellence with which Michael and his company are honoured. These are featured in high profile publications such as Indulge magazine, Western Canada’s BC Living magazine, BC Home & Garden, West Coast Homes and Design, GardenWise magazine, Business in Vancouver’s Home Makeover Magazine as well as many trade journals, such as the Pacific Coast Nurseryman and the Hort West industry newsletter as well as newspaper articles in the Vancouver Sun, the Peace Arch News, the Now Newspaper and the Real Estate Weekly. His work has also been featured multiple time’s on the Houzz website! Even with all of Michaels successes over the years, his clients often mention when providing testimonials that they appreciated his modest, friendly, and professional approach as well as feeling heard throughout the entire process. Michael treats everyone the same weather a client is picking him up in their yacht to look at their private island project, or he driving to a site in his Smart Car to look at a small backyard renovation. If Michael has some sort of creative challenge, big or small, that is what drives him!
Academically, Michael has covered all bases. “The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.” – James A. Michener
“Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” – Frank Lloyd Wright
