For this Surrey Poolscape Design projects to achieve its main objective of a private resort-style space, there were to be several functional and aesthetic issues to be dealt with including extensive demolition of patio and pool deck, renovation and repair of pool, deletion of overgrown trees and other unsightly plant material, and removal of chain fence creating segregation in the landscape.
Solution:
The finalized scale poolscape designs were developed to make the entire site more open, create an overall cohesive theme, as well as expanding outdoor living space. The patio area was replaced and expanded to offer more useable space for dining, relaxing, and entertaining, extending to the area around the pool which was plastered and repaired. Additionally, new plants, trees, lighting, retaining wall, waterfall and additional hardscape features were installed.
Implementation:
A curved pathway along the house, bordered by a shade garden on either side, leads to a enlarged patio, connected with the lower patio surrounding the uniquely shaped renovated and naturalized pool. Both decks and pathway are curvilinear hand-carved concrete to create a sense of connection with surrounding landscapes. Curvilinear theme is carried out throughout the space including the native Brohm stone retaining wall that contains a bordering softscape of cedars around entire perimeter of property, dense plantings of ornamental trees, exotic palms, shrubs, ferns, wispy grasses, and annuals.
The overall ambiance is natural and draws in the attention with features such as a cascading waterfall, lighting effects throughout landscape, highlighting architectural foliage, illuminating pool surrounded by specimen boulders, providing a warm glow along the pathways, naturalized fire pit, situated at edge of the upper patio where it can provide warmth and leads eyes out towards gardens and the pool, and a bar on the other side of the patio that can provide one of many focal points for entertaining.
Completion:
An extension of the home was achieved with improved sight lines to every corner of landscape from within and outside the house. The investment is maximized with the use of patio lighting when the sun sets, perfect for entertaining and relaxing privately. From the enlarged upper patio, there is an open view to multiple focal points situated within the entirety of the landscape. The lower deck and small pathways provide functional space for additional guests and full enjoyment of every corner of backyard; an intimate resort has been created. Surrey Landscape Designers.
