The client’s objectives were to create an inviting and livable entry to their residence, as well as allow for larger gatherings to spill out into a captivating outdoor living space.
This was accomplished by designing a dramatic entry path comprised of elongated natural stone slabs constructed using alternating natural lilac and select bluestone. Slabs were selected for premium colour and to maximize the alternating pattern.
The entry path was designed to slow movement as it staggers back and forth around various specimen boulders and ornamental planting pockets while the elongated slabs draw the visitor’s eyes into the surrounding landscape.
A circular patio space was constructed with a backdrop of ornamental plantings and a meticulously constructed curved rock wall which adds definition to the space and provides a secondary seating option. A unique bowl water feature carved out of natural basalt spills out of the face of the wall and disappears beneath the patio surface adding the final touch to this captivating and inviting garden retreat.
